In 1956, Osborne set his advertising agency on finding a symbol to advertise along country roads. Their brandy Veterano was to be featured in the campaign. Instead of putting the logo on the signs as usual - the artist Manolo Prieto chose to shape the sign like a bull.

The first bulls were made of wood and were four meters high. Various attempts were made to decorate the bull with white horns, brandy glasses as eyes and above the bull was written "Osborne Sherry & Brandy" in large letters.

In 1962, over 500 bulls had been placed around the country - now in metal and seven meters high. The bulls grew to twelve meters when a law was introduced that in future advertising signs would be placed further away from country roads and motorways. Today there are approx. 90 bulls left and d they are often placed on a small hill so that the silhouette appears clearly against the sky. Only two signs still bear the name "Osborne". One of these stands at Jerez airport and the other in El Puerto de Santa Maria, where the headquarters is located.

Visit the bodega and taste Osborne. Bodega Osborne can be visited in El Puerto de Santa María in Cádiz.
