Natural park

There are two lakes in the area. The big one is called Salinas de Torrevieja and is the real salt lake where salt is mined. It is over 5 km long. The little one is a nature reserve with lots of birdlife, nice hiking and good places for picnics.

 

The area is very popular with Spaniards who take a backpack and hike. Also nice wilderness biking.

One tip is to follow the shortest trail that is marked No. 1. We tried the longer No. 2 and the signage was not that good and we took quite a detour. One feels more suitable for picnics and watching birds etc.

Then you can choose to walk around the entire small lake.
