The Alhambra

Route: 34 miles, one way (journey time approx. 3 hours 40 minutes from Los Alcázares). It's a bit far for a day trip, but perfect together with an overnight stay.

TIP on hotels, very fresh and centrally located: "Marquis Hotels Issabel's" https://marquis-hotels.com/hotel-marquis-issabels . Regular price in high season seemed to be 130 Euro - we booked through Hotels.com for 72 Euro. Without breakfast.

Don't forget to bring your passport if you want to enter the Alhambra.

Tip: Book in advance Alhambra - the Nasrid palace that everyone wants to see must also be booked. We chose to book via the site "GetYourGuide" , it worked perfectly.

ABOUT THE ALHAMBRA (below extract from Wikipedia)

The Alhambra (Arabic الحمرا, 'Al Ħamrā', the Red) is a large castle and palace complex located on a hill in the Andalusian city of Granada and is a uniquely preserved building of Western Islamic architecture. The Alhambra was mainly built by the Moorish Nasrid dynasty from the 1250s to the end of the 14th century. It was the last of the Moorish strongholds in Spain to hold out against Christendom. Granada and the Alhambra were finally captured by Isabella and Ferdinand in 1492.

In 1870, the Alhambra became a national cultural monument in Spain, and in 1984, the Alhambra was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List, along with the nearby Generalife Gardens and the Albaicin neighborhood on the hill next to the Alhambra.
