Petanca - that's how it works
Petanca is the Spanish name for what we colloquially call Boule. It is a common occupation among Spanish Swedes and a very social phenomenon.
You either play three against three (triple), two against two (double) or one against one (single). In triples, each player has two balls. In doubles and singles you have three balls each. The balls are made of metal and you play on gravel.
You play your ball against a small target ball (small) and the game consists of getting points for the balls the own team has placed closer to the small than the opponents' best ball; 1-6 points per round.
The start
The game begins with drawing lots for who will throw the little one. A player of the team that won the lottery draws a ring in the gravel and throws the kid out between 6 and 10 meters while standing in the ring. The round is then played from there and it is the team that is not closest to the child that plays the next ball. The order in which you play your balls within the team is decided within the team. There is thus no special "turn order". The resulting situation determines who in the team plays.
When all players have played their balls, the round is over and the points are tallied before the next round begins. The team that scored points in the round makes another ring and throws out the little one again. First to thirteen points wins.
Foot placement
Both feet must be inside the ring when throwing out. No foot may be lifted before the ball has landed. This makes balance important.
The hand
Place the globe in your hand and hold it gently. Turn the hand so that the top side is up. The palm and the globe then end up downwards. ->
You can choose to throw with a high arc and the impact close to the child or to roll the ball forward towards the child. If you have a screw on the ball, it stops faster and is easier to control. As you practice the skill, you can start with side screws to the right or left, depending on what the game situation requires.
Shoot
Quite often it is better to shoot than to fold. Shooting means you try to hit the opponent's ball with your own ball. As a shooter, you usually try to hit the opponent's ball without your own ball hitting the ground first. The distance judgment and precision must be accurate. If you hit really cleanly, your target ball will switch places with the ball you were aiming for.
Tactics
The tactical element in the game is large and you are constantly faced with the question of whether to lay or shoot. You have to decide where to try to place your ball, in front of the ball or next to an opponent's ball. As an extra spice, you can also move the little one to a new position by placing or pushing the little one. Then a completely new situation arises and there are often many points, but not always to the team that moved the little one.
Measurement and additional equipment
Sometimes only tenths of a millimeter separate which is closest to the little one. A tape measure, preferably made of steel, is good to have. In addition to a measuring tape, it can be good to have a cloth of some kind. The ball tends to get dusty, or dirty, in the gravel and to get the best possible grip, the cloth is good to wipe the ball with.
